Bottle Tree Like Art
Part of the Day of the Dead Show at Jackrabbit Lounge, an art bar in Shreveport. I call it Summer of the Dead. It's crafted from reclaimed materials from the streets of Highland.
Why haven't I posted in forever? Forgot my password so most of my posts and pictures have landed at redriverblogjam.blogspot.com and crazyinshreveport.blogspot.com.

Wow! A Sale!
Went to Deck the Halls yesterday afternoon to pick up my pieces since the show closed this weekend. Found out one of my bottle trees was acquired by a collector. Ya-hoo!
Also find out this week if the West Edge Artist's Co-op has accepted my work.

Bottle Tree Fairys
Two Sundays ago I was out most of the afternoon. When I returned the porch was filled with blue bottles. I found out Neighbor Bob was responsible. No he doesn't drink that much, he just has the hook up with folks who throw lots of professional parties.
Earlier in the week Noma and Chris gave me some lovely lonnnng necked blue wine bottles. Now all I have to do is track down some more trees. I'll probably have tons to pick from when everybody tosses out their Christmas trees.
Thank you Bob, Noma and Chris... let the art makin' commence.

We Made the Paper!!!
My dad called me this afternoon. He was excited because he read my name in Maggie Martin's column in the Sunday Shreveport Times. Keep reading... under the Deck the Halls 2006 headline we're the very last sentence..."Two pieces of art had everyone talking: Kathryn Usher's two bottle trees. (You can see them for yourself and buy to your heart's content through Jan. 6.)"
I need to craft some stationery and send Ms Martin a thank you note. Weeeee!

What an Artist Likes to See
Three pieces of Robin Rothrock's art flew off the walls at Deck the Halls before I arrived, leaving behind these cookie crumbish red dots.

bottle tree art makes it onto Shreveport Faces
Angelique Feaster is standing by one of my bottle trees at artspace. Big party there tonight. Gotta go take a shower. Hope you can make it to downtown Shreveport this evening.
